Squidoo has changed the way its Angels operate again. Now that there are more categories and sub-categories for lenses, Angels look after a particular sub-category – mine is Growing Plants. It’s a subject in which I’m interested so I enjoy looking at these pages and have given out blessings on several. I’m pleased to say that so far I haven’t come across any lenses violating the site’s Terms of Service.

Big Ben, London, UK
I’ve said before I like making quizzes on Squidoo so it’s no surprise that I’ve just done another one – How Well Do You Know London?
Like the other quizzes I’ve done, this one supports my existing pages on London. As I’ve done several of these, I hope that it will increase traffic to them.
One thing I’ve not done yet is to link to the quiz from my other London pages and that’s just because I’m away from home at the moment. I shall do it as soon as possible, though, so that people who are interested in reading about London are sent to the quiz.
I did list my other quizzes on the new one and they have all had increased visitor numbers over the last week so it shows Squidoo pages do send people from one lens to another. I never doubted this, actually!

I finished a Squidoo lens yesterday called Novelty Clocks – Useful and Fun. It was inspired by my kitchen clock, a picture of which I use in the introduction. I’ve had this clock for about eight years and I still like it very much.
It’s a straightforward sales page but I have written something about each clock I feature so it’s not just copy and paste.
One of the reasons I wrote it was because I wanted relevant pages for Unusual Novelty Teapots and Local Time and Railway Time. I’ve struggled for about a year to find something relevant to go with the page about Railway Time. I know novelty clocks aren’t very relevant but they both have something to do with time so that’s good enough for me!

Look at this great Squidoo recipe lens for an Easy Blackberry Cobbler. It’s written by Sylvestermouse, an outstanding lensmaster on many different subjects currently with 187 pages to her credit.
Cynthia starts her introduction on a personal note, telling us that her husband and daughter love this dessert. Then she goes on to say that it is quick and easy to make, again relating the task of making it to her and her family’s pleasure in eating it.

I’ve been through a strange period over the last couple of months. I just haven’t been in the mood to write at all. That’s probably why I made the Quiz lenses in November – they required very little ‘real’ writing. I even did another one at the beginning of this month: What Do You Know About Musicals? At least it is a companion for My Top Ten Musicals.
I kept meaning to write a post here about the new quiz but just never got up enough enthusiasm even to open this blog, let alone write anything. There have been other Squidoo related topics I’ve had in mind to comment on here but, again, haven’t written about them.
Right! This has to stop now. I’m going to make myself write here and on Squidoo. I know once I start I enjoy it.

Squidoo Quiz: What Do You Know About Chocolate?
Although the quiz template has been available on Squidoo for quite some time, I made my first Squidoo Quiz last week and then immediately went on to make another two. I found them very enjoyable to do.
Of course, the hard part is thinking of questions to ask and making sure the facts are correct. Then you have to think of likely wrong answers as part of the multiple choice you need for each question.

Books Make Great Gifts
I write book reviews of fairly obscure books – never those in the top 100 best sellers, probably not even the top 10,000! This week I decided to publicise them a bit with a Squidoo mini lensography called Books Make Great Gifts.

I decided to be sensible and write a lens on Christmas gifts for children. It’s the right time of year, it might even be a little late now but not very much so.
When I started the lens, I wrote an introduction and put in a graphic. I even wrote content for another module and did one Amazon Spotlight. Then I was hit by overpowering boredom with the whole thing. The idea of having to write about several more products was more than I could bear. I haven’t deleted the lens. It sits there reproachfully in WIP, a reminder that I should finish it.

Every morning since the beginning of September I’ve trawled through lenses on Squidoo looking for ones to bless. I have to bless a minimum of five a day. Some days it’s fairly easy and quick to find them, other days it can take hours and involve looking at an enormous number of pages.
